Man dies after car crashes into house at Plaidy

A man has died after the car he was travelling in crashed into a house in Aberdeenshire.

The accident happened on the A947 Banff to Turriff road at Plaidy at about 20:20 on Saturday.

Front seat passenger Leslie Stuart, 58, suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary but died on Monday.

The 41-year-old man who was driving the car is in hospital with a fractured leg.

Sgt Colin Matheson, of Police Scotland, said: "Our thoughts at this time are with the family and friends of those involved."

Police have appealed to anyone who saw the collision or who saw a red Audi A4 estate car being driven on the A947 on Saturday evening to contact them.
