A gas leak shut the A96 between Elgin and Lhanbryde in Moray for more than two hours.

Diversions were put in place with eastbound motorists being diverted via Lossiemouth and Sherrifston after the leak was reported at about 13:30.

Roads maintenance firm Bear Scotland said its staff assisted police and Scottish Gas Networks with the incident.

Moray Council said at 15:40 that the road had reopened in both directions.
