Teenage pedestrian dies in Aberdeenshire road crash

A pedestrian has died after being hit by a car in Aberdeenshire.

The 18-year-old man was struck by a red Volkswagen Polo on the A980 at Muir of Fowlis at about 22:15 on Saturday.

Police said they wanted to speak to anyone who witnessed the crash at Craigievar Community Hall or had footage of the incident on their phone.

Sgt Peter Henderson said: "Our thoughts are with those involved in this tragic incident, as well as their relatives and friends."

He added: "Enquiries are ongoing and I appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision and has not yet given their details to police to get in touch.

"I also appeal to anyone who may have dash cam or mobile phone footage of the incident to come forward."
