Patent company Murgitroyd sees profits rise 23%

The Glasgow-based trademark firm Murgitroyd has reported annual profits of £3.8m compared with £3.1m last year.

The company said this was their ninth consecutive year of sales growth.

During the year Murgitroyd opened a new Nordic office in Finland, expanded its US operations and opened a new business development office in Tokyo.

The company offers clients advice and services in registering and protecting their intellectual property through patents and trade marks.

It employs more than 200 people worldwide.

Ian Murgitroyd, chairman of the company, said: "The board believes that Murgitroyd remains positioned to take advantage of current and future opportunities in the market and is well placed to continue to deliver value to shareholders."
