Care home operator Northcare is to create 80 jobs after securing £4.9m in funding for a new 72-bed facility in Glasgow.

The development in Cathcart will be Northcare's fourth care home in the Lanarkshire area.

The move will bring the total number of Northcare employees to 380.

The Royal Bank of Scotland is providing the funding package for the new home, which will include a gym and a beauty room.

Work on the development is already under way, with completion planned for May this year.

Northcare, which was established 20 years ago, offers elderly and dementia care across care homes located in the Lanarkshire area.
