Shell's North Sea Fram oil field 'being reassessed'

The viability of a North Sea field that was hoped to produce 35,000 barrels of oil a day is being reassessed, Shell has said.

The energy giant said there had been unexpected well results after drilling in the Fram field off Aberdeen.

Shell had announced in October that it was to develop the Fram field.

The company would not elaborate on the well findings but has cancelled a number of key contracts associated with the field.

Shell said development drilling at the Fram field would continue for several months before a revised strategy was decided upon.
