The Aberdeen arm of oil industry company Aker Solutions will do some of the work involved in a $440m (£289m) North Sea contract.

The deal is to deliver the subsea production system for an oil field development in the North Sea.

Aker's subsea operations in Aberdeen will manufacture the control systems and wellheads, among other roles.

Subsea business head Alan Brunnen said: "This is the single-largest subsea contract that we've won in the UK."

The Norway-based company is one of the largest employers in the north east of Scotland.
