'Record week' for Port of Grangemouth
Scotland's largest container port has reported its busiest week on record.
The Port of Grangemouth said it handled 4,200 containers this week, surpassing its previous record by more than 200.
The container business was boosted by a strong potato seed season and an increase in the drinks market of whisky and white spirit cargos.
Grangemouth handles more than 150,000 containers annually, with daily sailings to Rotterdam, Antwerp, Felixstowe and Hamburg.
About nine million tonnes of cargo are handled through the Forth Ports-owned dock facilities each year.
Port manager Derek Knox said: "We are delighted that the container business in Grangemouth is thriving.
"We have had a busy week in Grangemouth and the team has worked hard with our customers to make sure we deliver our usual efficient service."
