Irn Bru maker AG Barr reports strong end to year
Fizzy drinks maker AG Barr has ended its financial year on a high note after reporting a "renewed sales momentum" in the final quarter.
The Cumbernauld-based firm achieved growth of more than 5% over the period, which it said was "well ahead" of the total soft drinks market.
The sales lift followed a slower third quarter.
Barr said it remained well on course to meet its expectations for the full year.
Revenue for the year just ended is expected to be about £259m, showing year-on-year growth of about 2%.
The firm produces a range of soft drinks, including Irn Bru, Rockstar, Strathmore water, Rubicon and Tizer.
Barr said all of its core brands had performed well across the year in a period of low market growth in soft drinks.
It attributed the strong performance to its sponsorship of the Glasgow Commonwealth Games and "strong brand innovation".
Looking ahead, the company said: "We are cautiously optimistic regarding the new financial year and at this point expect to see further growth and development across the company, despite the challenging operating environment and market conditions."
Barr intends to announce its full-year financial results on 24 March.
