Aberdeenshire beer and bar company BrewDog has asked its customers to back a £25m crowdfunding bid.

Two years ago, it was successful in raising more than £4m from customers and beer enthusiasts, in what it called "Equity for Punks".

The latest funding round is intended to expand its brewery in Ellon and to increase on its 27 BrewDog bars.

The company also has plans to open a craft beer hotel and to move into distilling.

BrewDog was founded eight years ago, and now exports to 55 countries, while employing 360 people.

Co-founder James Watt said: "To grow BrewDog whilst being true to our values, we have had to build a whole new generation of business model.

"Equity for Punks puts the people who really care about our beer in control and keeps the passion and integrity in people's beer glasses."
