Two leading public relations firms have merged to form one of Scotland's biggest communication consultancies.

The new PR and public affairs firm has been created following the acquisition of CM Porter Novelli by Pagoda PR.

Edinburgh-based Pagoda Porter Novelli will provide a full range of services, including media relations, social media and community consultation.

It said the new business represented "a real step-change" for the PR and public affairs industry in Scotland.

Its client list includes Waitrose, Harvey Nichols, Golden Wonder, Stewart Milne Homes and VisitScotland.

CM Porter Novelli's Angela Casey has been appointed managing director of the new company, which employs 20 people.

Pagoda Porter Novelli will retain an affiliate arrangement with worldwide group Porter Novelli.

Ms Casey said: "We're bringing together a core team of highly skilled, ambitious practitioners with a vision to be recognised as the most respected and successful agency in Scotland.

"The team has already been working together for some weeks and the dynamic is brilliant."

The business will operate out of the existing Pagoda PR offices in Eyre Place, Edinburgh.
