Housebuilder and timber frame manufacturer Stewart Milne Group has reported a rise in turnover and profits.

The Aberdeenshire-based firm, which is celebrating its 40th year in business, saw turnover jump from £210m to £252m in the year to June 2015.

Operating profits were also up, rising from £14.1m to £14.4m.

The group employs more than 900 people in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester and Oxford.

Chief executive Glenn Allison said: "These results show our continuing position as one of the leading independent housebuilders in the UK.

"We continue to grow our housebuilding activity across the UK and our timber systems business has again grown strongly in all regions of the country."

Stewart Milne Homes has recently launched five new developments in north-west England and are planning new developments in Scotland this year in Auchinloch, Houston, Renfrew and Strathaven.

Work is also due to start next month on its 3,000-home development at Countesswells in Aberdeen.
