Man guilty of taxi drugs offence

A man caught in a taxi with drugs with a street value of up to £38,000 has been warned he faces a prison term.

Paul Smith, 36, of Bearsden, was found guilty of being concerned in the supply of amphetamines on the A74(M) near Lockerbie last September.

The drugs were recovered when a taxi in which he was travelling was stopped by police.

Smith was found guilty after a three-day trial. Sentence at Dumfries Sheriff Court was deferred for reports.
