Man charged with attempted murder in Castle Douglas

A 29-year-old man has appeared at Dumfries Sheriff Court on an attempted murder charge.

Peter McLean, of Kirkland Street, Dalry, is alleged to have stabbed a 19-year-old man with a knife in Castle Douglas last Saturday.

He was also accused of being in possession of an offensive weapon. No plea was made and the case was continued.

The 19-year-old man was still being treated in hospital on Monday.
