Hospital worker discovered dead in Dumfries Infirmary

Police have launched an investigation after a member of staff was found lying dead in a south of Scotland hospital.

The body of Alister Clark, 30, of Clapperton Road, Annan, was discovered at about 0900 BST on Tuesday in Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary.

The procurator fiscal has been informed and a post mortem examination has been arranged.

Police said there appeared to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

A health board spokesman said: "All those connected with NHS Dumfries and Galloway are saddened by the sudden passing of Alister, who was a valued member of staff.

"We would like to take this opportunity of expressing our sincerest sympathy to his immediate family and to those friends and colleagues who were close to him and who worked alongside him.

"We are unable at this time to make any comment regarding the circumstances of his passing."
