Soldier appears on Hawick attack charges

A serving soldier has appeared in court charged with two attacks in a town in the Scottish Borders.

Scott McQuillin, 35, of Dreghorn Drive, Edinburgh, appeared on a petition alleging he assaulted a man to his severe injury in Hawick on 28 August.

He is also accused of assaulting the owner of the town's Drumlanrig Bar and committing a breach of the peace.

He made no plea or declaration at Jedburgh Sheriff Court and the case was continued.

Mr McQuillin was released on bail with a special condition not to enter the Drumlanrig Bar.
