'Bends' diver flown to hospital

A diver has been airlifted to hospital with a suspected case of the bends after surfacing too quickly at St Abbs harbour in the Borders.

Forth Coastguard said it was alerted to the incident at about 1310 GMT.

The coastguard said the man, who is understood to be aged in his early 20s and from the Nottingham area, has been taken to the hyperbaric chamber at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

The facility is the only one of its kind in Scotland.
