Hawick telecoms firm agrees Indian deal

A Scottish Borders telecommunications firm has agreed a deal to extend its "global footprint" into India.

Hawick-based Emtelle has announced the purchase of a majority shareholding in Parixit Industries Ltd.

A spokesman for the firm said it had been looking for opportunities in the "emerging market" for some time.

He said the move, backed by HSBC bank, would allow it to play a part in meeting India's "rapidly growing broadband internet requirements".
