Man hurt in Stranraer town centre assault

A 28-year-old man is recovering in hospital after sustaining serious injuries in an attack in Stranraer town centre.

The man's head and body were injured when he was assaulted on Queen Street on Thursday evening.

A spokesman from Dumfries and Galloway police said he was taken to Galloway Community Hospital, where his condition was said to be stable.

His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Police have appealed for anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area between 1700 and 1930 GMT to contact them.
