Dumfries man robbed outside own home

Police have appealed for witnesses after a man was robbed outside his own home in Dumfries on Thursday night.

The incident happened at about 2315 GMT while the 30-year-old was returning to his property on Cresswell Gardens.

He was approached by a man who is understood to have threatened him with a bladed weapon.

The robber, thought to be from the Stranraer area, took cash from his victim before using his keys to lock him in his home and make his escape.

Police said such incidents in the town were "infrequent" and have asked anyone who was in the area at the time to contact them.

The robber has been described as about 30 years old, 5ft 9in tall and of thin build with pale skin.

He was wearing a dark blue hooded top, black jeans and white trainers.

He spoke with a Stranraer accent and had dark hair.
