South of Scotland water supply assurances pursued

An MP is meeting with Scottish Water to seek assurances there will be no repeat of festive problems with supplies.

Homes across south west Scotland were badly affected supply cuts during the recent spell of wintry weather.

Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale and Tweeddale MP David Mundell is meeting company staff to discuss the problem.

He said it was vital that lessons were learned from the issues that arose earlier this month and action taken to avoid it happening again.

"We saw people stuck without water over Christmas, with no proper information from Scottish Water, and left to struggle," said Mr Mundell.

"I will expect to hear from Scottish Water exactly what they are doing to ensure that we do not see those scenes again."
