Borders council proposes 180 voluntary redundancies
Scottish Borders Council officials have agreed financial packages to make 180 voluntary redundancies.
The council said it had received more than 600 expressions of interest from its 5,813 workforce for voluntary severance or early retirement.
The packages approved by council officials also include 50 teachers.
The proposals are to be considered by councillors at a full meeting of the local authority at Newtown St Boswells on Thursday.
The council also plans to introduce a pay freeze for all non-teaching staff earning £21,000 or more, with a "no compulsory redundancies" commitment.
It has claimed the measures could save the council more than £4m over the next three years.
