Moffat woman killed in A701 crash identified

Police have identified a 77-year-old woman killed in a three-vehicle crash on the A701 in Dumfries and Galloway.

Sarah Stewart, of Annandale Place, Moffat, died in the accident near St Anne's Bridge at 1850 GMT on Thursday.

Her 78-year-old husband was also injured in the collision involving their red Ford Fiesta, a VW Caddy van and a Renault lorry.

Police are continuing their inquiries and have appealed for anyone who was in the area to contact them.

They are particularly keen to trace the drivers of two vehicles which appear to have overtaken the lorry just before the crash.
