Hawick horse rider in hospital after fall

A man has been airlifted to the Borders General Hospital for treatment after falling from his horse in Hawick.

Lothian and Borders Police were called out to the incident in the Commonside area of the town at about 1350 GMT.

A short statement confirmed that the man had been taken by helicopter to the nearby hospital for treatment.

No further information about the nature of his injuries was available.
