Dumfries man jailed over indecent images of children

A Dumfries man who downloaded and distributed indecent photographs of children over a period of nearly four years has been jailed for 29 months.

Iain Davers, 36, of the town's Jardington Court, was also put on the sex offenders register for 10 years.

He admitted committing the offence on various occasions between December 2006 and September last year.

A sheriff also ordered forfeiture of the two computers involved on which more than 500 images were stored.

Solicitor David Finnie told Dumfries Sheriff Court that background reports painted a picture of Davers as a sad and lonely individual described as "socially inadequate".

However, he recognised that his behaviour was "despicable and unacceptable".
