Hawick woman killed in Cheltenham crash identified

A 62-year-old Hawick woman who died after being in a crash on the A417 at Crickley Hill near Cheltenham, in Gloucestershire, has been identified.

Retired teacher Frances Abbott was visiting relatives when her Seat Ibiza which was in collision with two other vehicles on Tuesday afternoon.

She was airlifted to Bristol's Frenchay Hospital, where she died.

The road was closed for several hours. Delays were compounded by race traffic from the Cheltenham Gold Cup Festival.

The drivers of the two other vehicles, a Volkswagen Golf and an Isuzu pick-up truck, were not injured.

Police have appealed for witnesses to the accident to contact them.
