Moffat Co-op cash machine skimming appeal renewed

Police are seeking a man seen acting suspiciously near a cash machine where a skimming device was discovered.

It was found by a member of staff cleaning the ATM at the Co-op in Moffat at about 1240 GMT on Sunday.

Police inquiries had initially centred on two men seen in the area on Thursday night but they are now keen to trace another man spotted on Sunday morning.

He was seen in the area at about 0630 GMT wearing a blue baseball cap and dark clothing.

He is described as in his 40s and with short dark hair.

Police are also keen to trace the driver of a light blue Peugeot seen driving up the High Street at about 0650 GMT on Sunday.

Earlier appeals were seeking two men seen using a white Renault panel van with a black stripe across the bottom on Thursday night.

Both men were of slim build and wearing dark clothing. One was about 6ft (1.8m) tall and the other slightly shorter.

Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary said any suspicious activity near a cash machine should be reported to them immediately.
