Duo accused of Galashiels murder bid

Two men have appeared in court accused of attempted murder after an alleged stabbing incident in the Borders.

Paul Farrell, 44, from Galashiels, and 18-year-old Ross Gourlay from Edinburgh, made no plea or declaration.

They were both remanded in custody by Sheriff Kevin Drummond after appearing in private at Peebles Sheriff Court.

It follows an incident in the Gala Park Court area of Galashiels on Monday evening which left a 41-year-old man in Borders General Hospital.

His condition has been described as "stable".

Lothian and Borders Police have issued a statement reassuring the public it was an isolated incident and thanking the local community for their assistance.
