Royal wedding Sandyhills beach party leads to disorder

Police and firefighters were called to a beach party after trouble broke out among teenagers celebrating the royal wedding in Dumfries and Galloway.

More than 50 people gathered on the beach at Sandyhills, five miles from Dalbeattie, on Friday.

Fires were started in broom and gorse and grass on the cliff sides at the beach. Firefighters had to climb down the cliff to reach the fire.

There were also reports of disorder at Sandyhills Bay but no-one was arrested.

Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary said they were investigating the incidents.
