Beattock sex attackers pursued by police

Police are hunting two men who sexually assaulted a young woman in a Dumfries and Galloway village at the weekend.

The incident happened between 0100 BST and 0200 BST on Sunday on the Lockerbie road near Beattock.

The 17-year-old woman was walking home from a night out when she was offered a lift by two men in a small white van.

The pair, said to be wearing orange boiler suits, took her to a secluded area and sexually assaulted her before she ran off and contacted police.

The men are described as being about 30 to 35 years old, one was of heavy build and the other of slim build.

Anyone who was in the area at the time or saw anything suspicious has been urged to contact police.
