An emergency operation has rescued three people on board a yacht which began sinking off the Borders coast.

Forth Coastguard received a mayday broadcast from the Horus at about 2100 BST on Wednesday.

The vessel, which was 17 miles off Eyemouth, had a hole around the keel area and was taking on water.

An RAF helicopter and St Abbs and Eyemouth RNLI lifeboats went to the scene. They got the water under control and escorted the yacht to safety.

Forth Coastguard said the the yacht carried out all the correct actions during the emergency incident.

It carried a liferaft, lifejackets and a flare pack which was used to attract the attention of the rescue helicopter.
