Dumfries fire spate forces home evacuation

A caravan has been destroyed and residents were evacuated from their home after a series of fires were started deliberately in Dumfries.

A number of fires were lit in the Lochside Road and Dunlop Road areas in the early hours of the morning.

Nobody was hurt but residents living at one address were taken to safety due to the presence of a nearby gas cylinder.

Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary said wheelie bins and a caravan were "completely destroyed" in the incident.

They have asked the public to contact them with any information about the fires.
