Jedburgh trader alarm over factory site supermarket bid

A traders' association has voiced concerns over plans for a supermarket on the edge of a Borders town.

Diana Cairns, who chairs the Jedburgh organisation, claimed the proposals would harm the town's High Street.

They have written to Scottish Borders Council to raise a number of issues about the plans.

The application for the former Oregon Homes factory has attracted a small number of objections but also some letters of support.

A revised application was submitted in April to meet planners' demands.

The bid is expected to come before the council's planning committee in the next few months.
