Dumfries man's jaw broken in phone robbery

Police in Dumfries have appealed for witnesses after a man's jaw was broken by two men who stole his mobile phone.

The incident happened between 0300 and 0500 BST on Saturday near the King George V playing fields.

The 36-year-old victim was walking home when he was attacked by two men in their early 20s.

He eventually managed to make his way to the nearby Tesco store where he reported the incident and was taken to Dumfries Infirmary for treatment.

One of the attackers was said to be slightly under 5ft 9in tall and was wearing a brown T-shirt.

The other was a little taller and wore a white T-shirt.

Anyone with information has been asked to contact Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary.
