Scottish Borders public syringe find levels revealed

Scottish Borders Council has revealed that a total of 80 discarded syringes were found by the public over the past three years.

The figure has been obtained by an inquiry under the Freedom of Information Act.

The needles were discovered in public areas of towns across the region between April 2008 and April this year.

Nobody was injured and all syringes were responsibly disposed of by council staff.
