Police have appealed for help in tracing a 19-year-old man last seen on a night out in a pub in the Scottish Borders.

Jamie Battison, of Coldingham, has not made contact with family or friends since Saturday.

Lothian and Borders Police said it was "completely out of character" for him to fail to return home.

He was last seen with a group of friends in The Ship pub in Eyemouth at about 23:30 on Saturday.

He failed to return home with his friends at the end of the evening and nobody has seen or heard from him since.

It is understood one young woman trying to help in the search for him fell down nearby cliffs sparking a rescue operation.

Police are now keen to speak to anyone who can assist them in locating the missing teenager.

'Increasingly concerned'

He is described as white, 6ft, of stocky build. He has dark brown, neck-length hair and a stubbly complexion.

He was wearing dark blue jeans, a grey knitted hoody with stars on the arms, white beanie hat and black and white Nike skater-type shoes.

A police spokesman said: "It is completely out of character for Jamie to fail to return home or to avoid making contact with friends or family.

"As such, we are growing increasingly concerned for his well being.

"Anyone who can help us to trace Jamie is asked to contact police immediately.

"We would also urge Jamie to make contact with friends, family or police and let us know he is safe and well."
