Jedburgh site sees second supermarket bid submitted

A fresh application to build an edge-of-town supermarket in Jedburgh has been made to Scottish Borders Council.

Coldstream businessman James Brown has applied to convert the former Oregon Homes factory into a retail outlet.

A full application for the same site was submitted by Sheppy Industries in August - and is due to come before the planning committee in a few months.

The latest bid includes an additional 1,000 square metres of the brownfield site in the proposed development.

The original application has divided the town with the local traders' association lodging objections but the community council and Borders councillor Len Wyse submitting letters of support.
