Two cut free from crashed vehicle on A703 near Peebles

A man and woman had to be cut out of a crashed car after a two vehicle collision which has left a total of three people hurt.

Emergency services were called at about 21:00 on Friday to an incident on the A703 near Peebles, in the Borders.

Two people were "severely trapped by their legs" in one car and hydraulic cutting gear was used to free them.

They were given oxygen at the scene before being taken by ambulance to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

Another man was removed from a different vehicle and taken to the same hospital.

A spokeswoman for Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service said: "The male and female in one of the cars were severely trapped by their legs and are receiving oxygen therapy.

"The other casualty was a male who was also removed from his vehicle and all three were taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary."
