Leadburn junction accident leaves woman in hospital

A woman is in hospital with spinal injuries after a four-car accident near the boundary between Midlothian and the Scottish Borders.

Firefighters using cutting equipment had to release the woman, who is in her 50s, from the wreckage.

The collision took place at the Leadburn junction on the Peebles to Edinburgh A703 road on Tuesday night.

The woman was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment. Another casualty was treated at the scene.
