Police have appealed for information in trying to trace a man who has gone missing in the Scottish Borders.

Steven Hope, 43, of Peebles was last seen at about 21:30 on Wednesday in the Greenside area of the town.

Lothian and Borders Police said it was "out of character" for him not to make contact with family or friends.

Anyone who has spoken to him since the last sighting or who knows anything about his whereabouts has been asked to contact police.

Mr Hope is described as white, 5ft 10in tall and of stocky build, with a clean-shaven complexion and green/grey eyes.

He has an eight inch skin graft on his right arm, a Celtic tattoo on his back between his shoulder blades and speaks with a Scottish accent.

He may be wearing a green/brown coloured fishing jacket.
