Kirkcudbright earmarked for renal unit

A site has been earmarked to address a geographic gap in renal dialysis provision in Dumfries and Galloway.

The unit would be located at Kirkcudbright Cottage Hospital as a midway point between Dumfries and Stranraer.

NHS Dumfries and Galloway has agreed the £250,000 project in principle.

Its chief operating officer, Jeff Ace, said the development would be a real benefit for renal patients requiring treatment in the region.
