Galashiels housing plans receive council approval

The first phase of a 500-home development in the Borders has been approved by councillors.

Persimmon Homes wants to build the houses on a site at Easter Langlee in Galashiels.

The first application - for 118 homes - was approved by members of Scottish Borders Council's planning and building standards committee.

Planning officials had recommended approval of the project but with a number of conditions attached.
