Dumfries woman hurt in road accident

A 91-year-old woman is in hospital with head and leg injuries after a road accident near Dumfries town centre.

The pedestrian was struck by a car on Loreburn Street at about 15:30.

The road was closed for a time between Academy Street and Three Crowns Court and diversions were put in place to keep the route clear.

A police spokesman said the woman was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary for treatment. The road was reopened by 16:50.
