Stranraer fatal dog attack appeal

Police are trying to trace the owner of a dog which attacked a Lakeland terrier near Stranraer, resulting in its death.

The incident happened on Sunday morning in woods near to Low Clachanmore Farm at Ardwell.

A 30-year-old woman was walking three dogs when the terrier was attacked and savaged by a "large, black, long-haired dog".

The woman took her dog home but it had suffered severe injuries to its neck and died later in the day.

Police want to trace the owner of the black dog, which ran off after the attack.
