Stranraer hospital homes plans lodged

Plans have been lodged for a housing development on the site of a former hospital in south west Scotland.

They would see a mix of flats, semi-detached and terraced properties built on the land once occupied by the Garrick Hospital in Stranraer.

NHS Dumfries and Galloway has drawn up the plans to demolish the building that shut in 2006.

Previous proposals had been put forward to convert the site into a 50-bed nursing home.

The Garrick site was closed five years ago when the £12.5m Galloway Community Hospital opened its doors in the town.
