Peebles body find thought to be missing man Steven Hope

A body found in the Scottish Borders is believed to be that of a man reported missing more than two months ago.

The discovery was made on Tuesday afternoon in the Manor Valley area, less than five miles from the home of Steven Hope, 43, of Peebles.

He went missing on 24 August sparking a large scale search and high-profile appeals from police.

It is understood the police are not treating the death as suspicious. Forensic tests are being carried out.

But Mr Hope's family have been informed of the discovery.
