Dumfries and Galloway flood risk sparks driver warning

Drivers have been urged to remove their cars from the Whitesands area in Dumfries after the River Nith started to spill over onto the streets.

Police asked motorists to avoid the area, if at all possible, and to take their vehicles out of its car park.

The A762 north of New Galloway was also reported to be impassable because of flood water.

Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary asked people to be aware of standing water on roads across the region.
