Maxton village jewellery raid investigated
Police have launched an investigation after a thieves took jewellery worth about £10,000 from a house in a Scottish Borders village.
The incident happened in Maxton, near St Boswells, some time between 19:15 on Sunday and 16:30 on Monday.
Two downstairs sash windows were forced open and the property searched before the jewellery was taken.
Police said it was one of a number of break-ins to houses across the region in the past few days.
Two properties were also targeted in Peebles on Monday.
In both of those incidents electrical items were taken and police were trying to trace a man in a yellow jacket seen nearby.
