Police probe Eddleston copper theft

Police have launched an investigation into the theft of copper cabling worth about £10,000 from a quarry in the Scottish Borders.

The incident happened some time between 20:00 on Sunday and 01:00 on Monday at Cowieslinn Quarry near Eddleston.

It is thought thieves entered an electricity substation and turned off the power before cutting out a section of cable.

Police want to trace anyone who saw a 4x4 or similar vehicle in the area.
