Newton Stewart A75 crash sparks ice risk warning

Police have advised motorists to avoid a stretch of the A75 in southern Scotland after a crash in icy conditions.

A lorry and a 4x4 were involved in the accident at Barskeoch near Newton Stewart at about 09:30.

A police spokesman said conditions were "very dangerous" due to ice forming on falling sleet and snow.

He said diversions had been put in place and drivers were being advised to use alternative routes if possible.
